I have qualified 17 boys and 30girls to the state finals in my seven years as strength coach for Altha High School. I have had 5 section champions in boys weightlifting and 14 section champions in girls weightlifting. I have had 7 state medalist in boys weightlifting including 3 State Champions and 5 state medalist in girls weightlifting including a State Runner Up and State Champion. I have had 5 boys named First Team All Big Bend. I was named Big Bend Weightlifting Coach of the Year for 2006/2007. As a team, we finished 7th in girls weightlifting at state in 2004. We finished 8th as a team in boys weightlifting in 2006. We finished State Runner Up in 2007 out of 68 teams in Class 1A overall at the Boys State Finals. In 2008 we won the cougar challenge team championship in girls weightlifting. We have been undefeated in the regular season in girls weightlifting for 4 straight years.
